Burner book Mark Greaney’s Burner is a fast-paced, action-packed thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from beginning to end. The book is the fourth installment in the Gray Man series and follows the story of Court Gentry, a former CIA operative turned freelance assassin.
The story begins with Court Gentry on a mission in Syria to rescue a group of hostages. However, things take a turn for the worse when a group of Russian mercenaries, led by a ruthless man named Andrei Turov, arrive at the scene and attempt to kill everyone. Court narrowly escapes but ends up with a Russian bullet lodged in his shoulder.
Back in the United States, Court is forced to lay low while he recovers from his injuries. However, he soon discovers that Turov has come to America and is planning to carry out a major terrorist attack. Court knows that he is the only one who can stop Turov and sets out to track him down.
The plot of Burner is expertly crafted, and the action sequences are nothing short of spectacular. From high-speed car chases to intense shootouts, Greaney delivers a thrilling ride that will leave readers breathless. The pacing of the story is also excellent, with the tension building steadily until the explosive finale.
One of the strengths of Burner is the characterization of Court Gentry. Greaney has created a complex and compelling protagonist who is both a deadly killer and a sympathetic human being. Court is haunted by his past and struggles with his moral code, which adds an interesting layer to the story.
The supporting cast is also well-written, with several memorable characters including Court’s friend and ally Zack Hightower, and CIA agent Suzanne Brewer, who has a complicated relationship with Court.
One of the themes explored in Burner is the idea of redemption. Court is a man who has done terrible things in his past, but he is also someone who wants to make amends for his actions. The book raises questions about whether someone who has done evil can ever truly be redeemed and whether redemption is even possible.
Overall, Burner is a fantastic addition to the Gray Man series and a must-read for fans of action-packed thrillers. Mark Greaney has once again proven himself to be one of the best in the genre, delivering a gripping story with unforgettable characters and non-stop thrills.
